Unfortunately, I heard that just a month or so ago they had a fire in the kitchen. I hope that the damage isn't too bad and that they will be able to re-open next spring. If you're in the area on a sunny summer day, I absolutely recommend stopping by. Try not to overdo it and you'll have room for some ice cream at Charlap's a couple minutes down the road/around the corner! That combo quickly becomes a routine/ritual... and I regret nothing! :)
Went here on Memorial Day. Ordered a Big George burger and onion rings. The onion rings were great. The burger was average. When I went here 10 years ago I remember the burgers were excellent. Not sure if the quality of meat has gone down or it's due to the fact that I've since tried great burgers (Five Guys, Allen Burger Venture, Vizzi's). A burger I ate at a backyard cookout this weekend was better than the burger I had here.
Dine inside or outside on a picnic table. Play ground for kids. Kids get a complimentary freezey pop if they finish their meal. My favorite is the Big George Hamburger. Every order is made fresh on the grill. Don't worry if you see a long line, as it always moves quickly. A little on the pricey side but worth every penny.
Great atmosphere. Great burgers. Large fries are REALLY large. They did a gluten free tortilla wrap for my wife's burger which turned out well. We saw the parking lot filled with cars and figured this must be a good spot. It didn't disappoint. Loved the order tickets that they send down a wire from the cashier to the kitchen with nice 'bing' sound. Tons of outdoor seating. There are cash only but if you really don't have any on you they can ring your card up using an iPad.
George's is one of my favorite places to go in the summer! They're a seasonal business - close down in the late fall and open in early spring. Amazing food - burgers, hot dogs, foot long hot dogs, taco salad, souvlaki salads, curly fries, milkshakes... all-American cuisine, haha! Good prices, CASH ONLY (you've been warned), a great atmosphere - eat inside or out on the picnic tables - and a playground for the kids.
